Hi, I’m Solara — founder of SolGems and your behind-the-scenes jewelry girl.
After graduating from NYU, I returned home to China to help my parents run our family’s jewelry factory. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t part of the plan. But it was the most real, grounding thing I’ve ever done.
My parents have been in this industry for decades — quietly perfecting the art of fine jewelry behind the scenes. We have it all in-house: design, production, polishing, plating. I grew up around gemstones and sketches, gold dust and tiny tools. You could say I’m the closest person there is to jewelry — not just selling it, but truly living it.
But as my parents get older, and the economy shifts, I’ve watched them struggle to adapt to the internet age. Meanwhile, I saw something that shocked me: the very same rings we produce showing up online for five, ten, even twenty times the cost — simply because of branding and middlemen.
That didn’t sit right with me.
So I created SolGems — a brand built on the belief that beauty belongs to everyone, not just the wealthy or well-connected.
Jewelry shouldn’t be locked behind glass cases or inflated price tags. It should feel joyful. Accessible. A daily reminder that you are worth celebrating — without waiting for permission. Especially rings — because they’re one of the few pieces of jewelry we wear for ourselves, not for others. You get to see them. You get to smile at them.
I design every collection to feel fun, fair, and emotionally rewarding. That’s why we sell through mystery blind bags and TikTok livestreams — not only is it more affordable, it brings back the thrill of surprise and delight. Every unboxing is a moment of self-love.
